Fashion Show ♥

Hello everyone and long time no see!

Since October I've been working on a huge group project with two other girls for my fashion visuals lab class. The task was to create two separate garments; one made from completely recyclable materials and the other reconstructed from thrifted clothing. I was in disbelief that I had to sew garments to be sent down the runway, having no prior sewing experience. I was paired with two other girls randomly who were merchandisers, as well, with no sewing experience, up against teams of designers.

So we worked for months on these garments; me, Sabrina, and Haley. We were tested creatively, mentally, and physically. There were many weeks where we met every single evening for hours and worked late into the night. We had to miss fun events, lost a lot of sleep, and were running on complete exhaustion. In all this stress though, I made two of the most beautiful friends I could ever ask for. Both girls are in NAVS with me (such a coincidence!) and have guided me spiritually along the way. Not to mention we had endless silly moments, laughing fits, and just all around the most incredible time doing something that none of us ever thought we'd be involved in. These girls were a true and utter blessing from God to me and pulled me through so much these past few months.

Last night was the big fashion show where 100 designs were shown. We had to do our two model's hair and makeup, but it ended up being quite fun instead of a chore. Haley and Sabrina came over early to get ready before hand and we did each other's hair, makeup, outfits, and it was one of those moments I always dreamed of, you know? I didn't have a group of girlfriends to do these sort of things with in high school so it was so special for me.

We went to the show with our two gorgeous models (seriously stunning) and felt like we were on Project Runway. We waited in anticipation for our looks to come down the runway and when each of our models hit the stage, I was just in utter awe. It was one of those moments you'll never forget. Where you breath hitches and your head spins because you can't believe that everything you worked for months on can look so beautiful...it was an irreplaceable feeling I'll never forget and I'm so proud of myself and the girls.

I have been so blessed with so much here in my life at Kent. Wonderful friends. Amazing opportunities. Endless creative outlets. Chances to do what I could have only dreamed.

I'm so happy I could just cry

With much love, Lauren.

P.S. On a random side note, sorry for the weird sizing of these pictures. Blogger is being dumb (yet again).

I have been following you for a while via google/blogger and had no idea you were a fellow Kent State girl/fashion student! That is SO crazy! I was in awe coming across that picture of Taylor (we've been friends for a couple years!) What a small world! :)
