Just Like Lana.

1960's Dress, White Heels: Thrifted.
Vintage Earrings: Gift.
Lipstick in MAC'S Myth.
Hair Extensions: c/o Irresistible Me

Hello for the second time today!
I wore this very vintage outfit last Thursday inspired by Lana Del Rey in the National Anthem music video. I've had this beauty of a 60's dress for almost a month now after thrifting it in Akron. I've found it frustrating on how to wear it though, and what exactly to wear it with. It's a somewhat uncomfortable polyester fabric that doesn't breath well, and the pretty details on the bodice and waist are what I wanted to keep the focus on. So with these two problems, I knew I needed 1) a somewhat cool day to wear it and 2) to keep the outfit simple.

I wish you could see the details of this dress a little better in the photos--it's just beautiful! I have to admit, it was a bit strange to wear a straight skirt silhouette instead of a full skirt. Definitely was unsure of how to pose!  I put in my extensions to get some more full, voluminous hair for a complete 1960's look . It's crazy how well these match my hair color, but it's hard for them to blend into the texture of my hair. It's not really anything faulty with the extensions, just I have a very hard (and strange) texture of hair to match to which the extensions don't. I tried curling them which did help a bit, but it's still obvious often times that I have extensions in.

I usually don't write much about fashion/my outfit because I feel as though it's boring and every post is kind of the same more or less. But this outfit had a lot of interesting details and things that I wanted to talk about, so I couldn't not say anything!

See you all tomorrow for OCTOBER! ♥

With much love, Lauren.

Kent Hangs: Scribbles Coffee Shop.

Hello everyone! ♥

I had the ideal weekend--the perfect balance of hanging with friends and feeling accomplished getting homework done. For awhile now I've wanted to check out a 'hole in the wall' coffee shop in downtown Kent called Scribbles. I've always known it was there, but it's a pretty far walk and just never had time. Erin and I made the venture down to Scribbles though on Friday, and it certainly lives up to the hype around here.

A good coffee shop to me doesn't feel perfect and put together. It feels mismatched, used, and holds memories and experiences of all the people who have had coffee there. Scribbles was all that and more for me, topping even my favorite coffee shop back home. It's small and cluttered with lots of details to be examined. There's shelves upon shelves of used books to glance through and if you leave a book, you can take any of them with you.

I also loved the tables which had white sheets of paper taped on them where you could scribble whatever your heart desires. It was strange (and possibly fate?) that Erin and I sat down at a table that had a quote and then, Someone Like You (5th photo). I thought I recognized it as a song lyric, but after coming back and researching all of the songs titled 'Someone Like You', none of them have this. I don't know where it's from, but it made the coffee shop have this unexplainable, just-by-chance connection with me.

Okay, awesome atmosphere but how about the coffee? I thought it was good. I know a lot of people don't think it's that great, but isn't taste subjective? I got a pumpkin pie mocha which went perfectly with the chocolate chip pumpkin loaf I also got. Not pictured because I ate it too fast :)

I'm really hoping to live closer to Scribbles next year so that I can walk/or drive down more often. It's perfect to me.

With much love, Lauren.

Romantic Fall Florals.

Floral Sweater, Pink Lace Skirt: Thrifted.
Camel Colored Beret: American Apparel.
Riding Boots: Old Navy.
Necklace: Gift from Katie.
Lipstick in MAC's 'Please Me.'

Hello ♥
Although it's Thursday, it's technically a Friday for me since I have no classes tomorrow! It's pretty late though so instead of forming coherent sentences, bullet points of things happening in my life will have to suffice (people like lists better though don't they?).

♥ This is literally the funniest video I've ever seen. I know I'm guilty of it sometimes, but I am nothing like most girls out there and their 'fall craze.' The over saturation of it this year has been driving me insane. This video sums up everything hilariously cynical.
♥ While on that note, I don't get the hype about Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Lattes? I don't find them that great. I had one from Mcdonald''s last weekend and have been getting them at the campus coffee shop, Jazzman's, and both have been 10 times better. Just me? (Probably).
♥ I signed up to go to NAVS fall conference today! It will be next weekend and I'll be gone the entire time. I am very excited because it is where I gave my life to Christ last year!
♥ Ordered MAC's Rebel a few days ago and just got a notification that it's in my mail box...I am dying you guys. Can't wait to finally have it in my greedy, lipstick loving hands.
♥ In my college writing class we're writing our own obituaries? Creepy but very interesting at the same time. My teacher summed it up well-- "you're not writing about your death, you're writing about your life."
♥ Adored Kaeleah's post to the moon and back.
♥ These coming weeks are going to be rough ones for me with Midterms coming up. It's been really difficult for me to juggle everything this semester--blog wise, email wise (especially), along with school, friends, and sleep. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. It's been a struggle to keep up with it all lately so I apologize!
♥ Someone last post said they wished I had a bloglovin' they could follow me on. I actually do have one! I just never promote it or say anything. It's right here if you use Bloglovin' to keep track of posting,
♥ Anddddd I'm obsessed with this app on my phone called Bakery Story. It's basically a game where you create your own bakery and serve food...so yeah, mega nerdy of me. When I baby sat this summer the girls got me hooked and now I can't stop. If you play it too, comment your user name so I can find you! Beware if you don't already play--it's addicting.

Hope you all have been enjoying your week! x

Wear Your ♥ On Your Sweater.

Vintage Heart Sweater: Thrifted.
Red Polka Dot Dress (underneath): Modcloth.
Mustard Beret: Target.
Vintage 1960's Loafers: gift.
Lipstick in MAC's Lady Danger.

Back in May after getting home from college, I went to a local church rummage sale in my town. This beautiful,
sweater of my dreams was sitting there, waiting for me for only $1. Although it was silly to buy a sweater when the weather was going to only be getting warmer, I knew I would patiently wait for the cool, fall day I could break out my colorful (most likely children's) sweater.

Yesterday was the day guys.

My mom literally had the worst cringe on her face when I brought this sweater home those months ago. She hates it so much, haha. I teased her yesterday when I called her saying, "I'm wearing your favorite sweater today, ma!" She knew exactly which one I was talking about ;) It may be ugly. tacky. gaudy. twee. But I love it with all my ♥♥♥

With much love, Lauren.

Brown Boots: c/o Pink and Pepper.

Hello ♥
Another outfit from last week :) I've been really inspired by the colors of the changing leaves. How typical blogger of me, ha.

Today in my stat class I learned that 35% of teenagers are bloggers of some type. Isn't that a crazy statistic? Ten years ago most people had never even heard of blogging and it's become this awesome phenomenon among this generation. I'm just fascinated by the effect the internet has had on the fashion industry in general. I don't know if I've ever mentioned it, but my minor is actually fashion media which is dealing with social media, writing, and the internet related with fashion. I'll get more into my minor classes my junior year of college, but I'm still looking forward to them!

With much love, Lauren.

Hello sweet souls! ♥
A weekend at home was just what I needed to gain some perspective and clear my head. Home is comfort and familiarity, so it's easy comfortably think about things there at peace. Sometimes you just need that, you know?  I've found that you cannot run away from where you're from. There is an invisible string that will always tie you there, always draw you back no matter what. Home shouldn't be a sense of unfamiliarity for you, but a place of solitude and rest for weary bodies, souls, minds.

Home was everything it should be for me for this short trip and I am thankful and excited to be back at college to try tweaking a few things now. Thank you for your kind words and varying perspectives on my last post--it's nice to hear what you all have to say and think. It gets me out of my often one-pathway of thinking!

Tomorrow is a brand new day. Hope it's beautiful for you.

With much love, Lauren.
