Selfless Selfie.

White Open Weave Sweater: Aeropostale.
Floral Dress (underneath), Heels: Thrifted.
Camel Beret: American Apparel.
Gemstone Necklace: Gift from Katie.
Lipstick in MAC'S 'Please Me.'

As a personal style blogger, it can be easy to feel vain often times by taking your picture every day. But I'm sure you all can also attest to feeling guilty sometimes of posting one too many 'selfies' on social media sites, especially instagram.

Usuaully when I get PR emails in my inbox asking me to write about a new collection, or to check out some new site I reply with an appreciative, "no." But an email caught my eye the other day and actually had me interested in hearing what it had to say. There's this app for your phone called simply, "Donate a Photo." Johnson and Johnson company has pledged to donate a dollar for every picture uploaded on this app towards various charities you can choose. A photo a day. Selfie, your coffee, the sunset. Anything you choose and it helps. Honestly, I've never really done much volunteering or charity work in my life because I've always felt like my contributions didn't matter. But every day I get such a feeling of pleasure knowing that by uploading one of my silly pictures on this app, I made a difference. There's a bunch of different charities you can chose your $1 to go to. My favorite is helping girls in Nigeria to go school, but they have one for every interest group: help a newborn breathe, protect a child from bullying, help children in Mexico get to school safely, or help a baby in Bangladesh stay healthy.

The app is completely free and it's not one of those irritating ones that you're constantly getting emails and updates for. All you do is upload a photo a day and help someone in the world.

This isn't a sponsored post or anything, and I hope it didn't come across that way (because I know when a blogger is talking about really positively about something it can be hard to determine thei motive). I just really wanted to help spread the word about this cause and help any of you, like me, feel like you CAN make a difference in something you do. Even if is as simple and silly as uploading a selfie every day.

Here's the website if you'd like to learn more.

With much love, Lauren.

Totally understand awkwardness in taking too many selfies, but just think of it as "self expression" :) Love your dress!

That sounds like an awesome app! I'll have to check it out.

Also I'm super jealous of your sweater weather. I want to wear sweaters! I think yours looks so great layered over a floral dress. The beret is a perfect touch too.

Love the sweater over the dress look! I only wish it was cold enough to wear sweaters here in Texas...

That app sounds awesome by the way! I'll have to check it out :)
