Remix #9.

Remix Item: White 1950's Dress, Thrifted.

Hello everyone and happy Sunday to you all!
This remix is featuring one of my favorite thrift finds ever that I found up in Cleveland last summer when I meeting up with some fellow bloggers...a beautiful, white, 1950's dress! I was completely smitten upon finding this little gem and was giddy with excitement when I found that it fit me to a T upon trying it on. Can you say a match made in vintage heaven...? This dress has been a wonderful piece to carry through all of the seasons we have here in Ohio. It looks lovely bare for those hot summer days, layered up for the cooler fall and spring ones, and perfect underneath a knitted poncho for a chilly snow day during the winter! And oh, may I mention it makes a lovely Smurfette dress for Halloween, as well? ;)

With much love, Lauren.

P.S. Other remix posts;

P.S.S. Thank you for the overwhelming amount of support in regards to my last post

I have not yet been brave enough to try vintage and consignment shopping. I am not even good with clearance racks-I don't have the patience or hope to search for something (most of my shopping is online). Do you have any tips? I really want a white vintage dress myself-it is so romantic a piece. What kind of places do you shop at and are you choosy about the consignments shops. I guess I just get freaked out when I see junk that I don't stop to think that there might be a treasure.

I am in love with your dress! It is so easy to style and it looks beautiful on you. How did you keep it white while wearing the Smurf paint?! Wow. I love every single way you styled this dress, and I can't wait to see even more of it. This dress is pure proof of the magic of thrifting. :)

I love this dress! Glad it didn't get an Smurf paint on it. Don't you love when you find something you love and it fits you like a glove? It is almost like thrifting destiny. :)

You look so gorgeous in all of these pictures, as always. I love your blog, you don't need to change a single thing about it.

I look at your pictures and I just think to myself... Lauren finds this from THRIFTING? One of my excuses for not dressing in cute dresses is "Oh, Modcloth is so pricey..." but you have items from there and your thrifty finds as well.

It's not just the items. You have such an eye to pair things together. A constant inspiration--really.

To Rachel Olivia regarding your questions on thrifting;

Thrifting, like anything else, is an art that must be learned with patience and practice. To find gems amidst junk it takes going to thrift stores quite often and many of them, as well. So as not to be too overwhelmed, try picking one specific area to look at that you have an interest in. Let's say dresses. By narrowing down what you're searching for the task at hand becomes much less daunting and you are able to better focus on finding what you desire. Another thing is when I thrifted this white dress I was in a fairly big city. Often times it takes going to large scale, more populated city thrift stores to find quality pieces because more merchandise (and often times better) goes in and out of the store.

Hope these tips helped and if you need any further help or such, you can email me at laurenpfieffer@yahoo.com I'd be happy to anwser anything else ♥

That dress is amazing!Very cute.Hah, loved the smurf picture. Did you wear actual paint or just photoshop it? If you wore paint,how did you not stain the dress?
