Ben's Story.

Today I was going to do an outfit post to celebrate the New Year. Something as silly and insignificant as an outfit post. Then I came across this video by a teenage boy named Ben Breedlove who suffered from a severe heart condition all his life. Three times he was supposed to die and cheated death, but not without getting a peek at the other side. One week after making these two videos telling his story, Ben died from a fatal heart attack, but not without showing a piece of his heart and his bravery against death to the world

Ben is such an inspiration to me. His story. His bravery. His outlook on life. He makes me want to cherish my life so much more and appreciate every little moment I have left because I (or even all of you) never know when our time will be up... I admire not only Ben's outlook on life, but death, as well. So often I'm up late at night thinking about what it's like to die, or fearing the death of my loved ones. But after watching these videos, I find it's so silly of me to fear death. Death shouldn't be something we fear, but something we look forward to. To spending eternity in happiness with Him. The way Ben described how what he thought was heaven was just so beautiful and really touched my heart...He instills bravery in me to yes, live every day of my life to the fullest this year and every coming year, but yet not to live in constant fear when it's my time to go.

Please. Just take seven minutes out of your day to watch these videos. I promise that after watching your heart will be touched and you'll have a new and more thankful outlook on life

Happy 2012 & With much love,

I actually just watched this video a few days ago. I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up. Ben is such an inspiration, isn't he.

R.I.P ben, he used to make youtube videos giving advice to girls. He was such a wonderful person. It's said to see him go like that at such a young age. But i know he's at peace now :)

Lauren, I am so incredibly happy that you posted about Ben. I never got the opportunity to meet him, but I watched his videos before I died, and he made me feel like I was his best friend. He was so charming and sweet and funny and not to mention attractive. I was blessed to have the chance to watch his funeral service, and his videos about him when he was unconscious. I look up to him so much, and thanks to him, I am not afraid to die anymore. I didn't really know what to expect when I pass away, but Ben just showed that passing away isn't a bad thing, it's just the beginning to a new life.

Happy New Year to you girl! <3

These videos give you such a rush of emotion...life is short. Ben was a reminder how very short life really can be, and to live it to the fullest. These videos are so incredibly sad, but uplifting as well. Thank you for posting these, and reminding us all how little material things don't matter so much in our lives, it's the big things, like family and friends.

I watched these videos last night and I am so so sad that he is no longer here on this earth, but seeing his videos make him quite alive in many more aspects. What an amazing young person he was.

I came across these the other day and my heart instantly welled up with tears as well as hope and encouragement. You couldn't have said it more beautifully in your post...death should not be something we fear because we do have hope in seeing our loved ones someday:) It's probably the single thing besides my family that has gotten me through the death of my 3 grandparents this. Thanks for sharing Lauren...your sweet spirit is apparent. Wishing you the happiest new year darling lady!!

This brought tears to my eyes. Just to know how he never wanted to wake up makes me think of how wonderful our Jesus Christ is. This really made me excited to die, and really reassured me of any fear I had before. To know that he no longer is on this earth but is in heaven makes me do glad for him. Thanks so much for posting this, Lauren. :)

Thanks again, Lauren, have a wonderful year!
