Purple Grecian 70's Maxi Dress, Gold Jewelry: Thrifted.
Nude Heels: Gabriel Brother's.
Hello there everyone!
Like the lace dress I wore on the first day of school yesterday, I've been saving this 70's maxi dress ever since I bought it in Akron a few weeks back. I was drawn to the interesting and unique draping of the garment which is unlike anything I've ever seen before. It almost has the appearance of a jumpsuit or MC Hammer pants, but the intricate draping actually makes a dress! The slitted sleeves are another detail that I love... it was fun finding a way to beat the 'no shoulders' rule for the dress code today! ;)
Although I do love this dress, I'm rather (and when I say rather I mean quite) unhappy about how the pictures turned out. I've been unhappy with how all my pictures have turned out recently actually. I have a very amature camera and have long been lusting after a beautiful, new DSLR. When I first started my blog I knew nothing about photography and my sub par camera and images didn't really bother me because I was still learning. But after years of taking pictures everyday I realize how much I am missing out on by not having a nicer camera and how much my blog is lacking with so-so pictures. I've saved every penny of my money from working so far at Cheddar's and have about $550 saved up at the moment. Not a lot, I know, but it is something! I've been reading up on all sorts of cameras as of late trying to figure out what one will give me what I want (soft, dreamy photos) for the lowest price. After some research so far I'm thinking about the Canon EOS Rebel T3. Do any of you know any helpful information about the camera? I'm quite naive and clueless when it comes to what cameras are good or bad, so feedback from you all would be much appreciated and valued!
Hope you all are doing lovely...
With much love, Lauren.

I love your dress. And I normally don't really like 70s dresses. The color and sleeves are awesome too! :)
You look amazing, I absolutely love your dress!

Absolutely lovely! I understand what you mean about the photos, I need to get a new camera too but don't know where to start.
That dress is *gorgeous* and I think your photos always look amazing! Trust me, it can't get worse than me.. I take mine with the webcam on my imac, or with my iphone camera. No lie, it's embarrassing! :p
I also saved up for a DSLR a few months back and I can say it was totally worth it. Read reviews online before you purchase - we went with the Nikon D3100 - it's about as cheap as you can go for a decent DSLR! I highly recommend!
I've used the canon you were talking about and let me say the photos come out beautifully and it's quite fun to play around with! SO worth the money :)
A DSLR will amaze you! I have a Canon Rebel, but the Nikon is also a good choice. I can't hardly take photos without it now ;)
Get a really good tri-pod as well. My cheapo fell apart and is being held together with duct tape right now LOL! A tri-pod is very important as well.
Good luck and I like this dress on you! Nice switch and the color is lovely.
Honestly, Your photos are really great now!

I honestly think these pics turn out good! You look gorgeous in this dress, it looks like a dress a roman/greek goddess would wear ^^

The sleeves are so pretty.
Love the dress AND the pictures, but good luck getting a new camera.
Ha Ha- Go take a look at my pics & you will feel much better about yours! I've got a cheapo camera too & well I suck at photography!
I LOVE your dress! It is absolutely stunning!!!
I feel the same way about the cameras, I'm just using a point-n-shoot and now I'll be taking pictures in my dorm which is not the most attractive location. So I could use a camera too.
That is a beautiful dress on you by the way! I'm scared of purple because I don't like how it looks with my hair...too "Daphne" :P
Rebel's are nice because without knowing how to shoot in manual...the straight off the camera shots are awesome. Nikon basic slr's aren't as nice if you don't understand the mechanics. ALSO note that the kit glass is typically an 18-55mm which is a pretty slow glass. The point? The body isn't nearly as important as the glass. (glass=lens) So, my opinion is save some more and get that camera and a nice lens!
I have the Canon EOS Rebel T3 and I LOVE IT!! :)
That dress looks amazing on you! It hangs so well!!
