You know it's summer time when you hear the buzzing of the cicadas early in the morning. The sun shines through your window and cascades dancing images upon your walls. You have the whole day ahead of you to do whatever you want or please. No worries, no stress. Just the sound of summer.

Yesterday I went on a second college visit to a school I am really interested in. Being at this school somewhat gave me a kick of reality that the summer before my senior year is coming to a quick close. I still wish it was the beginning of June and all the hopes and wishes of a brilliant summer were before me, however, they aren't any more. All that is looming is the start of my Senior year. My last year of high school.

I'm so scared. Scared out of my mind to be precise. So much is going to change this next year and so much will be placed on my shoulders. I've already felt the burden of being a senior this summer with the stress of planning out my senior pictures. Getting a photographer, setting a date, getting outfits, finding a location. Thankfully all of that is done (scheduled to take pictures this coming Thursday), but now larger problems are coming into the horizon.

I've been frantically studying for the ACT because I'm going to take it for the fourth time in September. I have a certain score I want so, so badly and I'm only one point away. The pressure is certainly on. I was shocked to find out yesterday that applications to be accepted to college start August first, which is just a little over a week away... My summer assignment for Advanced Senior English is due in a few mere weeks, and I'm not even close to being done... This is the first year also that Matt won't be with me at high school, and I'm scared to death that I'm going to be terribly lonely. There's scholarships to consider, final visits to decide where I want to go, and of course the dreaded senior paper. Not to mention I'm totally stressing over how I'm going to go to school and deal with all my AP classes along with having a job...

My parents tell me I need to chill, and I know deep in my heart they are so right. I should try and enjoy my senior year and not dread it so much. Hopefully as fall and school approach I'll learn to calm down and take things as they come and not worry about what's next. Hopefully.

You all tell me: did you enjoy your senior year, or were you stressed out?

With much love, Lauren.

I love your floral romper, its beautiful on you!
As for being scared going into your senior year, I havent approached that part in life and i'd say my biggest fear is whats coming after graduation..Id like to say i can relate to the fear from when i started highschool my freshmen year, that was some scary change. Im sure you're worried about how different it's going to be , but change is good! Everyone needs it to get through life, and i have faith you can do it lauren :)

Yes, there is a long list of challenges that lie ahead of you, Lauren. If you wanted to you could project ahead and list everything you're likely to face in the next 50 years; but why do that to yourself when it only leaves you feeling overwhelmed? The trick to managing a large number of tasks and responsibilities is, as your parents said, to keep your composure. You can do that by setting priorities and focusing on one thing at a time, the one that is most important or time sensitive. Get the most pressing matter dealt with to the best of your ability, thank yourself for your resourcefulness, and move on to the next thing. When you tackle them one by one challenges are much easier to handle.

Take a deep breath, smile, and welcome life's challenges. They are all opportunities to demonstrate your greatness.

I only applied to a couple of schools, and my high school didn't offer AP classes, and. . . I didn't have a job. So I don't think I was as stressed out as you are, and it's understandable, but girl, you'll be so much better off if you can find a way to relax. I know it's hard (GOD DO I KNOW IT'S HARD), but life is going to happen either way, and it sounds like you're preparing the best you can. <3

Seeing as how I planned on going to a liberal arts college (one that didn't really care about test scores) I didn't stress out that much. I wished I had cared more looking back. I ended up not going to the college of my dreams because of lack of financial aid and went to community college instead.

I just graduated and am going to college...I was scared too. I already knew the college I wanted to get into, and being a relatively advanced student with a lot of PSEO, I was safe. On the other hand, so much of my life was changing crazy fast.

But senior year turned out to be the best year of school. A lot of bad stuff happened with my friends, but it turned out to be the best for me in the end :D

Just don't stress too much and this will be the best school year ever.

That floral print is so pretty. I have to say that I stressed so much in final year of high school and I really regret not trying to enjoy it! In the end it does matter but not as much as you think at the time. I am 21 and have changed universities, degrees, majors etc. What I thought I wanted to do at 17 wasn't what I thought it would be like and I am loving the course I am now doing.

I love this looks :) It's so fresh and summery :) Hope you find your inner calmness, so you can work on everything calm and with a clear mind :) I can't say how it was for me to go from highschool to college, cause our school system works completely diffrent than the American system. But I'm sure you will meet a lot of new people and you will find your way around soon :) Good luck!

This is such a cute little romper!! I just thrifted a romper I need to do some refashion work on.. and I hope it turns out this cute! Ergh standardized tests are the worst - not to stress you out more ;) I'm sure you'll do great though! Senior year was the BEST. My boyfriend (now hubby) and I started dating the summer before. We were in the same group of friends too so we all had the best time hanging out and having fun before going out separate ways (college). I miss it! Live it up :)

Ummm...senior year wasn't too hard for me. All I can say is, get the best ACT score you can. But you already know that one. You don't have to have a very high score to get accepted into most schools, but the higher your score the more scholarship $$$ people give you. I've found that out from experience. And just have fun. It seemed like a drag for me, but it went by fast.

Oh...and due to blogger being really dumb...you can follow me again if you want to see my posts. Because obviously they're awesome. :)
