Hello there everyone!
Often times I feel despairing and frustrated when I get in a style rut. I'll stare at my closet at all of the dresses, blouses, skirts, and rompers that I have of all the colors of the rainbow. I'll take out this piece and that, try on an outfit that seems swell in my mind only to look in the mirror dissatisfied. It doesn't take long for a large, heaping pile of clothing to stack up on my bed when I'm in a mood like this. I throw clothing over my shoulder left and right because it's not what I want. It does not fit the mood I'm feeling. I hate being like this.

It just blows my mind that with all of the clothing I have that I can fail to put together an outfit that satisfies me. The past few days or so I have just somewhat looked at my outfits as such disappointments. They're not inspiring or creatively put together. They don't tell a story or make me feel like I'm someone else. My outfits as of late have just been blah, blah, blah...

Perhaps it's the excessive heat that we've been having late. A heat advisory warning has been out for today and tomorrow because it's so sweltering hot out. I've always felt that fall was my favorite season to dress for because I can layer and and be more creative with my outfits. Berets and cardigans, boots and different colored tights... In the summer time, it's just too hot to wear anything but a sundres dress and be done with it. Not to mention I can hardly bare to take outfit pictures for more than five minutes because my face just drips in sweat...

I don't mean to complain so much, I guess I'm just frustrated in this awful rut I'm in. Hopefully soon inspiration will hit me and I'll be back on a good track of developing my personal style.

Hope you all are doing just lovely!
With much love, Lauren.

I feel you so much! I tried to do photos today and in five minutes I was pouring with sweat. I've been feeling uncreative too. I try and be cute and then realize, that hey, it's 100000000 degrees and cute doesn't matter. So, a dress it is.

That, however, doesn't mean you don't look beautiful! Because you most definitely do! Great colors!

This is so cute with the teal belt :) I know exactly what you mean about it being too hot to layer, etc. I never thought I would actually look forward to cooler weather!

Oh I hate those ruts. I always seem to get them in August for some reason. Its like I'm ready for fall wear, but still have to wait till December since that's when it starts getting cold in southern VA. Oh well:( I feel your pain though. And for the record, you look great!! I don't see a rut at all!!

Oh I *completely* relate.

Naturally, the only solution is for you to come visit so I can tell you what to wear.

I think you always dress absolutely darling! That said, I do know what you mean, I also have days where I take everything out of my wardrobe and still have nothing to wear! It's like nothing works or feels right. I agree that spring and fall are the best seasons for dressing how you want. Great post! x

Goodness, it's getting even warmer over here too! I totally agree with you on fall...that is absolutely THE best season. I love wearing darker shades and mixing it up with layers. Gosh, now I can't wait. Meanwhile...I shall enjoy the amount of sweat that ruins my makeup each day. haha

Yes, autumn and winter are more creative seasons! I love them better as well. You can wear more clothes, layer them...

Oh I love this! The bright colors make it so perfect for the summer. And I totally can relate about being in a style rut. I often look into my closet and am so unsatisfied with everything. But you look absolutely lovely! xx

Style ruts are so hard--I get in them A LOT, however, I definitely don't look as cute as you when I'm in them...haha. I love this sundress! The colors are so pretty. I hope you get out of the annoying little rut soon...:)

I love that all the titles of your posts recently have been from that Band Perry song. ;) Hope you find some style mojo again soon!

This dress looks great on you! I often find a stack of clothes on my bed when I am trying to put together an outfit and nothing seems to work.

Perhaps you have too much and it is time to downsize which will make it easier to have style and get you out of a rut? Don't know. . but I think all you wear looks lovely on you!
