Define Yourself.

Sweater Maxi Dress: Pull & Bear (Barcelona).
Tan Coat: Zara (Florence).
Boots: H&M.
Earrings: Thrifted.
Lipstick in MAC's Diva.

I used to think I couldn't wear things like this outfit. I was too short, had too big of hips, I wasn't cool enough. Sweater dresses would just never be something for someone like me.

I was in a Pull and Bear store in Barcelona though while over in Europe and thought everything was so cute. I had never been to one of their stores, and I was really excited. It was mostly younger teen girls shopping in there, with perfect little bodies that could fit into anything. It made me feel self conscious, and trying some pieces on in the store made me feel even more self conscious when I couldn't fit in them. I was getting ready to leave, discouraged, when I came across this sweater maxi dress. I thought it was so lovely and cool, and figured I didn't have anything to lose by trying it on. I ended up absolutely loving it, even thought it highlighted my large hips and the things I usually felt insecure about...it also made me feel confident and in love with this body.

Still a few months later I love this dress and am proud to wear it. Don't let anyone or even yourself define your boundaries when it comes to fashion. You gotta do you! x

With much love, Lauren.

you look great in that dress...enjoy yourself in the "now"...don't measure yourself against other women. :)

I totally relate to comparing myself to thinner women and thinking there are certain things I can't wear. I'm SO glad you decided to try this dress on; it's gorgeous on you, and you look so sleek and chic. That color is really amazing with your skin, and I think the shape is really wonderful on your figure!

I don't think I'm thin enough to wear some things, also. Totally sucks being insecure about my body. I always thought sweater dresses especially just were not my thing but I don't care anymore - they're too cute not to wear!

Also, you look too fab. I love that dress and coat on you, everything about this look is on point to me. It's giving off a bit of 70s vibes to me, maybe its the hair and makeup...which both also look AMAZE!

I totally feel you about not being able to wear certain things. I have a very similar shape to you (short and curvy, rock on) and I always have to mentally prepare every time I go to a store like H&M--I just feel wrong and out-of-proportion.

But this dress and the outfit look so amazing on you! I actually said "wow" outloud, haha. You've inspired me! I absolutely love how the coat pulls it all together, and the colors are great for winter.

Seriously, you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen! If I looked like you...well that would be totally awesome if I could hahaI really like this length of dress on you. Please do not be mad at this next comment. Buuuuuuuuut.... some of the shorter skirts you wear kinda make you look shorter than you actually are. But this dress!!!!! you look so tall and elegant! Tell your boyfriend that he is one lucky duck!!! :-)lol

Thanks so much for posting this! Its always encouraging to read about girls who are just themselves and not who society tells them to be. You rocked this outfit!

Lauren ... my dear, in this particular dress, you look very mature. You look like an adult woman - and one who is confident in being exactly that, too!!! Seriously ... compare this to some of your adorable, cute, OOTDs back in high school, in the earlier part of your blog - they were appropriate for then ... this is appropriate for now ... and isn't it interesting it took Europe to bring you there ???

You look imcredible! You look like you stepped out of a film noir, so glamorous! I think we all sometimes feel like we can't pull off different pieces of clothing, but I think we have to remember that we need to wear what makes us happy too! I think this highlights your body beautifully!

I agree with a previous commenter's observation that you look like an adult woman - confident, mature, and commanding. It has been so interesting to witness your transformation from a teen to an adult! I am still a teen myself and I don't want to "grow up" any time soon, but I am very proud of you, Lauren! :)
