Welcome To My Life.

Floral Peter Pan Collar Dress: Forever21.
Pink Cardigan: Thrifted.
Black Boots: H&M.
Black Beret: Target.
Cameo Ring: Gift from my Grandmother.

Hello there everyone!
This old song from Simple Plan is perfectly describing my life right now:

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like
Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more?
Before your life is over
Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With their big fake smiles and stupid lies
While deep inside you're bleeding

I realize now that I've been avoiding all of the hurt that I've been feeling the past few months. The hurt of having an important friendship end, the hurt of being used over and over again, the hurt of being walked all over, and the hurt of being disconnected from everyone it always seems... Instead of putting all these problems in the distant corners of my mind, I should have been dealing with them as they came. I should have been writing and thinking more instead of trying to move on and be strong. Hopefully some deep contemplating the next few days will do me some good.

With much love, Lauren.

I used to love that song :P

The summer before senior year I actually lost my best friend in the whole world. We'd been friends since we were little kids, but unfortunately she became the kind of person I didn't want to necessarily be with any more, and she didn't want to be with me.

I guess it kind of helped me realize (as cheesy as this sounds) who my "real" friends were, and senior year ended up being the best ever even though she wasn't part of it, because in reality she had been a negative influence on me for a long time but I hadn't realized it.

(Sorry this is so long :P I just felt like I could relate)

I totally get you on moving on. I tend to do that a lot as well because I just don't like to face confrontation of some sort. But I guess taking the time to think and reflect is also good to gather thoughts and to really look back in past situations in our lives.

I haven't seen a beret in awhile! Love how it looks on you. :)

I am seriously in love with your outfit!
And yeh, it's hard when we move on with friendships, we all grow up and become different people, but you'll make new friendships :)

I'm loving all your accessories in this outfit - the beret, the belt, the ring are all fab.

I know what you mean about being hurt again and again and being disconnected, but it gets easier and you will find new, better friendships and the people in your life will appreciate you for who you are :)

I know exactly how you feel Lauren. I felt inspired to do something for you because of it.
Here's a link to my latest blog post. I used the song as the base to build up everything else.
Love you Lauren, I hope we can get in touch soon. You're a wonderful, beautiful, loving girl(:

Lauren, you're not only beautiful, warm and kind - and stylish! - you're also an inspiration to me. You are so right about the need to slow down once in a while and recognize the fact that we're hurting. Pain does not go away from being ignored, hidden or shoved in the corners, it can only be eased by dealing with the feelings and the grief. Losing an important friendship is always oh so hard, regardless of the reasons and the circumstances.

Be good to yourself, sweetheart. You deserve it.

Perfect look. That pink cardigan really pops with your dress. I love the beret too. I've been wanting to try one of those out, so this is really good inspiration for me!

As for your troubles lately, I've developed the mindset that if those people continue to behave the way they behave and upset you, then they're not good enough to take up space in your mind. I recently had a big falling out with some relatives because I was sick of the way they acted toward me. I told them so, they got mad that I called them out, and all hell broke loose. It's best to leave them be and let them act how they act. You know you're right and don't deserve to be walked over and someday it won't hurt that badly.
