Homecoming 2010!

(My hair at the end of the night!)

Hello everyone!

So last night my school had it's homecoming and it was so much fun!

I would have to say that my homecoming look from this year was my favorite out of all of the years. Usually I'm so into 1940's and 1950's clothes that I forget how much I really do like the 1960's. So, since my dress was sort of 1960's inspired, I wanted my whole look to sort of reflect that. I was super nervous to get my hair done because for the last two homecomings and prom I wasn't really happy, but my hair stylist replicated exactly what I wanted! I brought in a picture of Joan from Mad Men and told her that I wanted a sort of beehive inspired 60's do, with soft, romantic curls gathered in a bun in the back. She seriously could not have done a better job. I loved my hair! For my makeup I did a brown smokey eye with brown eyeliner winged out at the ends to give that 60's vibe. Also, I did a nude lip so that my eyes would be the focus!

Originally I wasn't even going to carry a purse to homecoming, but I went out to VOA that morning and actually found the perfect little purse to compliment my outfit for only $2. What a steal! My corsage was absolutely beautiful, and Matt looked so handsome! I always love it when he dresses up so fancy :) We went to a local nature center for pictures, then to Applebee's for dinner. Matt and I split this delicious desert called Triple Chocolate Meltdown, and it was delicious!

The dance started at eight, and I have to say that the decorations were absolutely incredible. Even better than prom's! The theme was "Lex-plosion," and everything was decorated in glow in the dark neon. The floors had these glow in the dark star cut outs, the walls were splatter painted with neon, and there was even a disco ball. Also, was a huge table with hundreds of different color glow bracelets and necklaces for the students to take for free!

At first it was a little bit hard for Matt and I to get into the groove of dancing because, well, I'm an awful dancer! By the end of the night though we were pros! I really had such an amazing time with Matt... I feel like if I had went with anyone else I wouldn't have had half as good of a time. He's so incredible :)

With much love, Lauren.

You look so pretty and you brought the vintage vibe into the "now" perfectly with the smokey eye :) ~ How'd your hair get so "mussed" ;)
Just kidding :) It looks perfect even after the bun!
The dress was gorgeous and I LOVE all the photos. They tell a perfect story, especially the close-ups! The jewelry was perfect as well.
About the "thrifty gods".....
They must like me. plus my goodwill is literally 2 blocks away, so I can get there pretty often and scoop up the goodies.

Thrifting tips:
1. ask the workers when their truck comes in. The next day it is usually put out.
2.Shop early on 1/2 price days.
3. Shop again the day after 1/2/price day as they are usually re-stocking.
4. Find a "good" shop that is clean. They give the better items to the stores which sell the most stuff ;) and clean, organized shops sell more.
Ta, Da !
