Everything Is Not What It Seems...

Today I ventured out to my local Volunteers of America to blow the huge amount of money I had: $9! (Don't think I can't save my money, ha. I do have a school wardrobe shopping fund currently that is up to almost $200!) Sometimes it seems as if there's nothing at VOA that catches my eye, and then other days it seems like I'm counting out my pennies trying to pay for the things I want. Today was one of those counting out my pennies days...

  • Striped High waisted Shorts ($2). Ah, it seems my love for shorts keeps growing. Just when I said last night that I was starting miss dresses and get sick of shorts, I find the perfect pair! They fit amazing: probably the best fitting pair of shorts I've ever gotten. It was odd, for they were just sitting out in the open on the clothes rack waiting for me to find them... It was destiny!!
  • Tortoise Shell Cat Eye Sunglasses (.99). I have been searching for vintage cat eye sunglasses FOREVER! When I say forever, I mean forever. I was so excited when I found this pair! For .99 cents I just couldn't pass them up. Usually I don't wear sunglasses because I'm afraid of getting a weird tan on my face, but I have a feeling that these are going to be the exception to the rule.
  • Pink Gold Button Dress ($2). Now, I know this dress looks absolutely huge in the pictures, but in reality it actually fits! It's strange because it says it's a size 16, too. I didn't think it was going to fit, but I was sure surprised when it did! I'm not sure what era it's from... I feel like it's 60's, maybe even 50's. Oh, maybe I'm totally wrong! It's probably just another dress from the 80's.... sigh. I wish I could tell what era clothes are from better! do any of you have a hunch how old it is...?
  • Black High HIGH Heels ($3). Wow, what a find these were. I actually looked at these shoes quite awhile back at Target but decided not to get them. I think at Target they were originally $30, so I definitely got the better end of the stick! They are extremely high though. They're about 4.5 inches which is the height of my tallest shoes: the brown wedges from Target. Wedges are much easier to walk in, so I'm going to need a lot of practice before I strut around in these babies!

Thrifting Total: $8.00!

great finds!! I know I have trouble determining era for sure on vintage clothing. Especially when it's a classic style like this one. sometimes i wonder if a lot of people that sell vintage aren't guessing themselves.
