Corduroy Revival.

Corduroy Jumper, Black Turtleneck, Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo Heels: Thrifted.
Beret: American Apparel.

First words out of my little sister's mouth this past weekend when she saw me wearing this jumper, "eww, are you wearing...corduroy?" As a 12 year old sports fanatic, it's no surprise that the little one wouldn't be a fan of the material. She proceeded to tell me in hilarious detail why corduroys were for 'lame' people and it's quite funny, because a part of me thinks she's right.

For years I've kept the nightmarish connotations of my mother forcing me to wear terrible, colored corduroy pants to school in the late 90's and early 2000's. I had every color imaginable. A royal purple, a deep navy, a pumpkin orange, and even a putrid green color. I hated them so vehemently and silently died of embarrassment every time my mother brought me home another pair of corduroy's from her mysterious shopping trips with my grandmother. I was never teased for wearing them, but even at a young age I realized 'lame people' wore corduroys while the 'cool kids' wore sparkly flared jeans.

I eventually got a pair of those sparkle jeans and convinced my mother to donate those poor corduroys to the goodwill. Ever since about 12, I have not worn or gone near corduroy since. But, with the recent resurgence of the 1970's trend in full swing, I've been seeing such cute renditions of items done up in none other than my old friend: corduroy.

I've been on the lookout for something in the fabric at all my thrifting trips and finally spotted this gem of a jumper this past weekend. Nearly cried tears of joy when I spotted it because I've also been wanting a jumper forever and the corduroy was just the cherry on top.

Must say, I've worn this outfit four times in the last five days and I'm quite bent on perhaps (you won't believe it) trying to find some corduroy pants next (mom, you had the right idea all along). Little Lauren would be rolling her eyes so hard at me right now. What can I say though: I'm hooked. x

With much love, Lauren.

This jumper reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in "Funny Face" when shes in the book store. I don't know why it does. Wish I was home to watch it so I could see why is reminds me of it, but it does. I love it. Wish I had one. Its a great find!

There's a whole world of difference between a cute, sophisticated cordhuroy dress and childish cordhuroy trousers.
When I was a teen, it was at the height of the Indy, Grunge era so wearing cord flares was the epitome of cool. I shared a pair of vintage 1970's Levi Strauss cords with 3 of my friends and it was great so they've never been uncool for me. I have a pair of bottle green cords from Laura Ashley which I love.
Pity that we get these childish hangups. For me, it is T-bar shoes. Cant Stand them as they were the uncool shoes to have.x

Your new hair cut totally makes you look more like Taylor swift - in a really good way. You're just so darn classy. <3
