Hello there!
Not sure if it's the continual Halloween hoopla all around me this month or the lasting influence the city has had on my style, but I've been dressing particularly witchy as of late. A friend who has known me since freshman year and traveled with me to Florence commented the other day, "your style has really, really changed in the past year. It's surprised me." And it's surprised me, too, I think. For a long while I was really lost in between still dressing rather youthful and a more serious, simplistic style of dressing and it was bothersome. But, I'm glad I finally figured out the in between of the two that is my happy medium. I still like to incorporate little bits of girly flair here and there; case in point these adorable heart loafers! They were sent to me from Loly in the Sky, one of my favorite brands to work with. The company is amazing because they handmake the shoes down in Mexico (where they're based) from vegan leather. Each one is special in its own way, and in the past year I've really been trying to support smaller, ethical companies and Loly fits the bill.
The rest of this outfit is very simple and all the pieces are thrifted (all the clothes but one Zara dress I've bought have been thrifted in the last few months!). Another way to be more ethical about clothing/fashion purchases is to use a subscription lending service where items are reused over and over again. I was given a three month subscription to Rocksbox which is a designer jewelry subscription box where stylists will pick you out three designer pieces a month and send them over to you! They're yours for as long as you'd like, and then when you'd like to be sent new pieces you send the first set back. I really like this because it helps cut down on unnecessary purchasing that we all do in seeking new items constantly to suit our changing needs. Instead of garnering a mass of excessive, cheap products that we dispose of after they fall apart or we wear tired of, I enjoy supporting the idea of investing in quality pieces and easily being able to change things up with a clear conscience not at the expense of human and environmental ethics. If you'd like to learn more about how Rocksbox works check it out here.
Hope you all are doing well! x
With much love, Lauren.

Hocus Pocus?
Lauren, you always style the best all-black outfits. I love it.

It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus ;)
You look STUNNING, Lauren. I think what's so great about you is how you so seamlessly incorporate different elements of style into your own. I've never felt like I could identify with just one style, and my own style has evolved a lot from when I first started blogging. I think you'll always love vintage and be drawn to what you're drawn to, but this look is really professional and mature and on trend – which is perfect for where you are in your life and what you're trying to do.
Also, Loly just sent me a pair of shoes too and I can't wait to wear them!! <3

LOVE this outfit and I am going to the used clothing-store in my city this weekend to look for a leather skirt! It's colder here so I'll have to wear my winter jacket and tights, but I LOVE the idea. You look really sophisticated and the outfit is simple yet catches the eye. I hope life is treating you well :)

very attractive outfit!
I love the wonderful moody fall/winter vibes going on in this outfit. This almost entirely black outfit looks fantastic on you. I definitely need to try out my black turtleneck with my black leather skirt now!
