What is Fashion School Like?

Gingham Blouse, Red Denim Shorts, Straw Boater: Thrifted.
Red Keds: Macy's.

Hello everyone!
By the fashion building on campus some of the trees are finally blooming, and I was so thrilled to be able to take some outfit photos by them yesterday! Spring in Kent is my absolute favorite. Just the renewal that goes on around campus and in people is amazing to see. And I can certainly feel it in myself, too. Winters are hard in Ohio, and I always welcome spring as a time of new beginnings and hopefulness. Can't believe I'll only have one more spring after this one here left in Kent--makes me sad to see that in just a year I'll be graduating from this amazing school!

With that being said, I get a lot of questions on various media outlets and on here about what fashion school is like. I know when I was thinking about coming to Kent for fashion, I had no idea what the major entailed, jobs you could pursue, and what the course load was like. That being said, I'd love to put together either a little Q&A video or post about any questions you have regarding studying fashion/the Kent State fashion program! I think it would be helpful to have a compiled list of commonly asked questions that you may just be curious about or want advice on. Questions reguarding my studying abroad experience + internship are welcome too because they relate to my schooling!

If you'd like, you can post a comment below with one, two, or any amount of questions you may have. Or, you can email me at laurenpfieffer@yahoo.com if you want to be more discreet, or even tweet at me or write a coment on insta (both @passingwhimsies). Whatever you would prefer!

I hope to offer a little bit of guidance and advice to inspire others to pursue fashion. It is a very misunderstood major/career path and sometimes just asking questions can help clear things up! Excited to do this. x

With much love, Lauren.

Hi, Lauren! Thank you for so generously opening up your time to answer our questions! I would really, really LOVE to see a video on it - your videos show us more of who you are by letting us see and hear you, and I love your channel so far!
Anyway, I was wondering, in regard to Italy, how did you come by that opportunity? Did you travel with your school or an outside program? (I am starting university next year for my freshman year and am super shy and nervous but excited - and also very curious about all things related to study abroad, which I'm extremely interested in.)
Thanks again so much!
By the way, can I also just say you look FABULOUS in these photos?!? I am in love with your blossoming background and gorgeous lacy collar! ♥ Red is so your color! :D

Hi Lauren <3 Out of all the challenges that have come your way, what do you consider to be the hardest part of your experience at a fashion school?

Also, it's amazing to see how much you've changed over the length of your blog! You've always worn such adorable outfits, but you simply look fantastic! I hope life keeps sending great things your way, darling :)

Hey Lauren!
I'm definitely interested in pursuing fashion school; thanks so much for opening up the forums to the topic! :)
1. What does your schoolwork/studying look like on a regular basis? What is the scope of the subject?
2. How did your Europe semester work? How would your days look during that time?
3. What sort of job opportunities would a fashion degree open up? Is is geared towards a specific aspect of fashion (merchandising; design) or is it more broad?
4. Are there hands-on applications of fashion while you're in school, or is it mostly book work?

Let me know if that's too many questions. I'm a curious chica. XD
