Sometimes High School Just Isn't Fair...

Tan Trench Coat: Kohl's.
Green Polka Dot Dress: Forever21.
Key Necklace: Came with a book.
Green Heels: Thrifted.
Green Reversible Headband: Modcloth (they gave it to me for free for messing up my order!)
Gold and Emerald Earrings Clip On: Thrifted.

Hello everyone!

And how is every one's week going so far? Mine isn't too bad, but whew I sure had a lot of homework tonight! I'm not even done yet, booo :( I've been really wanting to show you all my latest pair of clip on earrings I thrifted recently! I was so excited when I found these babies for $3 because I've been wanting emerald earrings for-ever!

Anyways, sometimes it makes me so mad how high school is just a huge popularity contest. Today the nominees for homecoming queen where announced. At my school, it's only senior girls that can be elected, and at first the whole senior class picks ten girls , and then it narrows done to five girls who will be on the homecoming court. From those five the queen is announced! It just makes me angry because it's the same type of girls every year and I can pretty much predict who's going to be elected every year. Here are the "qualifications" to be nominated for homecoming queen:

  1. You have to be beautiful.
  2. You have to be popular.
  3. You have to have a gorgeous body.
  4. You have to be on Varsity soccer or Varsity volleyball.
  5. You have to have every guy drooling at your feet.

Those are pretty much the "unofficial" rules to be elected to homecoming court! Well anyways, my English class is filled with a bunch of the most popular girls in my grade and today they absolutely disgusted me. They were talking about the dresses that they should all pick out when they are on homecoming court next year, and how they should all do their hair. They talked about the guys who would escort them at the assembly. They even said they would cry if they weren't on the court.

For goodness sakes! How self absorbed can you be to already know that you're going to be on the homecoming court next year!?!? I would just LOVE to be one of the elected ten to see what all of those popular girls would say. You could say it's a secret dream or wish of mine to be elected one of the ten on the court. I know, so superficial of me and completely pointless, but I want to show people that you don't have to be the most beautiful, popular girl to be on the court. Non popular but unique, people can be elected too! Not just the same cookie cutter girls every year.

I guess I'm just bitter that I know that I don't have a chance to be elected. I'm not the least bit popular, not beautiful to the people at my school's standards, I don't have a smokn' hot body that makes all of the guys want me, and I am CERTAINLY not on any Varsity sports. It looks as though my chances are very slim to none. But, I still have hope though for some reason. There's a .5 out of 99.5% that I might be elected onto the court. Oh, if only in my dreams...

See you all tomorrow!

Lauren.

I love this outfit! The coat is an adorable touch.

I think you're soooo right about the "popular" girls being self-obsessed and such. Even in middle school it happens. I think your gorgeous in a better way though--you're naturally pretty, and actually real and pretty on the inside (cheesy but true.) I really hope you can win it next year!!!:) Not to be offensive to other people, but high school is overrun by superficial fake girls right now:/ It would be awesome if you proved everyone wrong about winning:)

don't worry.. you're beautiful. sometimes it takes forever for us to just truly realize it and not just "saying it for us to believe it" kinda thing :) more than half of those popular girls will probably be not popular anymore after high school. haha! :)

love the heels!

hope you visit me and follow my blog!! thanks!

wow! I totally love that outfit and it looks absolutely fantastic on you!! :D

about the high school stuff, I agree with the girls that commented before me!
the most important thing is for you to feel great with yourself, and if you do it shows ;))
I think you're beautiful both on the outside and inside as well and you just need that to be able to have a great time at high school and in all of your life too!
don't let anyone take that away from you and don't let anyone ruin that for you!

Trust me I totally know what you mean - it was the same way in my high school. But then you go to college and who cares? Those girls were probably the ones who peaked in high school anyways, which sucks for them :)

By the way I love that dress! I tried on one just like it and I was so sad that it was too short on me. Adorable!

Okay - here's something you didn't know about your Aunt. Once upon a time when I was in high school I was in the initial round for homecoming attendants (1 out of 10). 2 from each grade made court with a senior queen. I didn't make it on the court, but thought it was pretty cool to be in the top 10!
