Why hello everyone!
With much love, Lauren.
So with my prom only a few weeks away, I need to get my butt in serious gear and get everything ready to go! I bought my dress last November actually somewhat unexpectedly. I found it at a local thrift store in my town for just $8! I was curious to find out about the maker of the dress, which on the tag was listed as Emma Domb. I looked up the designer on the internet, and was so excited that Emma Domb made prom dresses in California during the 1950's and late 1960's. I proceeded to look up some of her dresses on ebay and was shocked to find that they go for a hundreds dollars!
Since the dress is authentic 1950's, I needed a petticoat to go underneath it to accentuate the volume of the skirt. I thought I was going to have to order a petticoat on ebay, but I was so pleased to find one in perfect condition at one of my local thrift stores for only $15! I've been so incredibly lucky as you can tell...
All I have left to get for my prom look is a necklace. I've already bought a pair of silver drop earrings to wear for $3, and I won't need to buy shoes since my dress covers my feet. I've been searching all over the internet for pictures of a retro updo, but so far I haven't come up with anything I absolutely love. Do any of you have an suggestions that you think would work with this retro 1950's look I'm doing? I would appreciate feedback so very much!
Today was my last day of school and I'm officially on spring break now! I go to a school with kids from a lot of wealthy families (mine not being one of them), and all I've heard this past week is how everyone is going to some warm, tropical place... Well, I'm going somewhere better for spring break! Every local thrift store in my town, hehe!
With much love, Lauren.

What an amazing, amazing find! I thrifted my senior prom dress as well, a silky black 40's number!
Take photos when the time comes. You are beautiful.

Oh my goodness Lauren! Who would ever dream of finding such a perfect, gorgeous, dream dress for prom for less than a million dollars?! $15! That's absolutely crazy. The dress is gorgeous, and the detailing is so perfect too. Good luck finding the hairdo and necklace! Even if it takes a long time, it's a fun task, hehe;) Wow, we had spring break like, 3 weeks ago! I wish I had one now...haha. Yeah, I get jealous when other people get to go to tropical places too...but thrift store shopping sounds like a fun alternative!!

You need to look up Strawberry Koi to get updo or hair style tips. She has a blog and then her youtube is all about hairstyles and how to do them yourself. And they're mostly vintage inspired:) http://www.strawberrykoi.com/
And your dress is absolutely perfect!! I can't believe it was only $8. It makes me cringe to think about how much I spent on my dress! You're going to look gorgeous:)
what an AMAZING dress and story behind it. cannot wait to see photos!

That's such a beautiful beautiful BEAUTIFUL dress. And you're going to look great in it! I think a pretty simple beehive would be nice... with maybe some pincurls around the face?? I'm not sure, I have curly hair, so I don't really do hairstyles... it's either down, or.. up, and always curly! lol :) Good luck though. Enjoy your spring break, lucky girl!
What a dreamy dress! You'll look amazing. Maybe some kind of chignon for your hair? Have a great spring break!
Wow, that is a fabulous dress. Please post photos of you in it, it would be great to see the whole ensemble you create with the jewellery etc! Can't believe it was only $8! I wish I had amazing thrift shops selling vintage dresses; I just spent the afternoon trawling 2nd hand charity shops and antique stores in Hexham trying to find 1930's, 40's, 50's dresses to wear for the Sound of Music and found nothing except a 1930's nightdress which I paid £19 for!!
This dress is SO you!! I'm sure you look stunning it it! =)
By the way I have emailed you the interview questions. Let me know if you haven't received it.
Enjoy your spring break!
