Hello everyone!

So I have one more class that I signed up for next semester that I didn't tell you about last post...it's an orientation class. But what for? ITALY!

I was officially accepted into the program last week and will be studying in Florence, Italy in Fall of 2014 for 17 weeks. I am beyond ecstatic. I've been wanting to do it,waiting for all of the processes to go through for many months, and I'm so thrilled to finally being able to say that I'm officially studying abroad.

I just can't believe it really. Italy. Europe. Seeing the world outside of little Ohio. I can't believe it, can't believe it, can't believe it. I'll be leaving early August and staying until December. The craziest part is that it's less than a year away until I leave. Around 8 months! These next 8 months will be a whirl wind of learning Italian, catching up on culture, filling out paper work, and learning how to cook. I hear that Italian eating is very unlike American as in it's all 'do it yourself' from the market. One of my great friends Haley is also going and I can't wait to experience this with her. I'll be taking fashion courses during the week and on the weekends taking trips across Eurpose to Paris, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, and others.

I am so blessed to have this opportunity. Can't wait to see where God takes my life with this!

With much love, Lauren.

You are going to fall in love with Italy. I took a weeks language class in Florence while on a tour 3 years ago, and it was the most amazing experience of my life! I can still remember the very streets in Florence; if I ever return it will feel like I'd never left.

As for the food, it is very much do it yourself, and the Italians love focusing on what's in season. During my trip there during the spring, we ate blood oranges after dinner almost every night because that's what was in season haha. But there are also SO many great pizzerias and restaurants in Florence, not to mention the gelaterias. You have been warned-there is literally one gelateria on every street corner...it was so hard not to buy a gelato all the time hehe

exciting news Lauren!! I am from Italy and as you expect, things are quite different here than in the US! yep, we cook our dinners, pasta and risotto all the way, but lots of seasonal vegetables as well.. and every region has its own specialties (you won't believe how many). But there are some great restaurants to try out as well, lol!
Ok, ok, we also have some great landscapes... and wonderful towns. :)
I am sure it will be a great experience for you. I understand you can hardly wait! if you need anything, suggestions on places to see, etc... ask right away!
hugs
