Hello there everyone!

It's been a busy first week at my internship since I last posted. So much has gone on and I'm excited to be back with an outfit and write a bit about what's happened!

My first week of work ended on Friday and it couldn't have gone better. I really enjoy my internship and have just felt so lucky to be in the position I am and learning so much about the industry. The work is very fast paced and the days go by in a blink of an eye. I'm usually there for around 10 hours a day but I do get a lunch break which splits things up nicely. They have an amazing cafe in the Hearst building that serves the absolute best quesadillas. Man, the stuff dreams are made of! The rest of this week I just practiced working on checking items in and out of the office and also went on my first run. A run is where the editors need you to either take items or pick up items at PR/brand headquarters because it's needed ASAP. My first run was to take two Cynthia Rowley dresses down to the design studios and thankfully I didn't get lost! I got to do two more runs this week: one for Jimmy Choo and another for a PR company and I really enjoyed doing both. I like runs because I get to get out and see the city since I'm still so new to it.

Some other exciting things that happened in the office this week were I actually got to see Joanna Coles! She is the editor and chief of Cosmo and she overseas what goes on at 17, as well. I remember first seeing her on Project Runway years ago and thinking she was so scary...crazy that I see her in person now and work in the same office as her! I still think she's scary though, ha. I've just seen her floating around for meetings and things and of course haven't talked to her at all. But perhaps sometime when I'm here over the summer I'll get a hello in and not die of fear :O Also, we packed up clothes for my first photo shoot since I've been here. I got to help merchandise racks for the stylists which was a fun task. Basically, it's organizing all of the items editors have chosen for the shoot by most bare item to most covered. I.E. from crop tops to pants so that the stylist can easily rifle through them. Then, within each product category you organize by color and length so that finding pieces is as easy as possible. I've always loved organizing, so I get a strange amount of satisfaction about doing this kind of stuff all day!

Outside of work I haven't been doing much because I'm pretty exhausted when I get off. I had my first grilled cheese at Melt the other day and it was AMAZING. I'm not really much of a grilled cheese person but this was heavenly. I took these outfit photos on Wednesday so they're a little bit old. They're also before I...well, sprained my ankle!

On Friday evening after work I was walking to get some dinner and stepped off a curb and didn't see it was sloped where the drain was. I ended up twisting my ankle really bad and fell in the streets and couldn't get up. I thought I had actually broken it at first because I was blacking out like when I broke my toe back in Italy, but after the initial shock wore off I could get up on my own. Some people called an ambulance for me and were so kind to wait with me while it came. The medical personnel were SO nice in the ambulance when I told them I was embarrassed for needing an ambulance for such a minor thing when there's people with much bigger problems in NYC. Inside the hospital I've honestly never met kinder people and it was just so refreshing to me. I felt God's hand through so many people that night in the tough situation. The doctor assure me it was just sprained and not broken, and told me to take a few days off to rest it.

It's been doing a lot better. I couldn't walk the day after it happened and actually ended up falling again in my housing and had to call for help. But with a lot of rest the last few days, icing it, and taking medication I was able to go to church and walk around a bit today. It honestly couldn't have happened at a better time either because I have tomorrow off for memorial day so that's another day to rest. God was looking out for me!

After I was discharged from the hospital I told myself, "I need ice cream for all of this" so I stopped at Ben and Jerry's. They had every flavor that they sell in pints and the store smelled just amazing. The moment stepped in though, all five of the guys working just stared at me...it was so cute because they all had a crush on me and were just asking me questions and complimenting me and trying to make me laugh. At the end, the one who checked me out asked for my phone number and it was too cute! Just having those guys be nice to me honestly turned my whole night around and had me leave with the biggest smile on my face.

New York is always exciting with new things happening! I need to post more often so I don't overwhelm you all with so much at once. Love you all to the moon and back. x

With much love, Lauren.
