New Year, New Coat!

Purple Worthington Walking Coat: JcPenny's.
Brown Tights: JcPenny's (Gift).
Leopard Scarf: Target.
Leopard Flats: Target.

Hello everyone!

Well it's a new year and I recently just got a new coat! I'd had my grey Delias pea coat for quite a few years now and it was getting somewhat shabby. I've always wanted a purple coat, and I think that's what I like the most about this coat: the gorgeous, deep color. I also love the tight, streamlined fit. And what a perfect time to get a new coat, too! The temperature has dropped down in the low twenties again. Grr...

It's funny to say but I have to admit I usually don't ever make New Year's resolutions. I just don't believe in them. For me, I wake up the same person on New Year's Day that I was on New Year's Eve. I know that I have plenty of things that I can/need to improve about myself, but I feel like they should be things I work on all year instead of just the first few months of the year and then give up. I somewhat do have a resolution for this new year, 2011. I want to defeat my OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

Long time followers of my blog are aware with the daily struggles I face with my disease. Within the past few months I have been going to therapy again and while it does help some, it certainly does not help enough. I try and remain positive and upbeat on this blog, but my real life is being taken over by my OCD. It's affecting my sleep, eating, and just general peace of mind. My therapist has suggested going on a light anti-anxiety medicine to somewhat take the edge off of my worrying. Although I think I will eventually turn to medicine, nothing would make me happier than to defeat this horrible disease in this new year so that I can finally start to enjoy my life again.

Hope you all are doing well!
With much love, Lauren.

P.S. Fifteen comments on my last post?! My goodness. That's the most I've ever received! You all are incredible :)

  1. I think that's a great resolution dear.
Living with mental disorders is very tough.
I too have daily struggles because of a few different mental disorders.
Which have recently begun to worsen.

    Hang in there.
You can overcome anything you set your mind to!!

  5. Lauren! I have to say I'm in love with your new coat. . . one of my favorite outerwear pieces is from J.C. Penny's too. A faux fur vest that I wear all the time :)

I also really understand where your coming from struggling with OCD. From ages 15-17 I struggled with depression. Like you, my disorder affected my entire life, and made every day such a struggle. Eventually I was able to overcome it, with a whole lot of therapy (luckily I never had to use medication) but I still have my days. . .

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is hang in there. I know how hard it is dealing with something like that every. single. day.
    Here's to 2011 being your year :)

By the way, you look super gorgeous in these photos :)
    hearts and hugs,
    Nina

  11. It is wonderful how you are dealing with your OCD!!! I am proud of you for seeking help in it. I don't think many people do that at all. I congratulate you for your hard work. I spent a few years fighting dyslexia and that was not easy at all since it was ingrained in me. It took about 3 years of hard effort before I got through it (which I do believe I successfully have done). People always make it seem like if you are born with issues or have problems in an area, that there is nothing you can do. It is nice to see when people are willing to fight and make an effort to change how they do things in their lives. Bless you!
